South School News

Monday 27th October                                                                                  Week 3 Term 4

Dear Parents/ Care providers,

Another week has flown by so quickly and before we know it, the excursions will be over and it will be time for end of year testing and reports.

Due to it being such a busy term, I will include a fortnightly calendar in the news letters so everyone stays informed of the organisational aspect of the school.

It was wonderful to be a part of South School last Friday. Such a happy occasion and so many people giving up their time to help, reminds us once again what a terrific school community we have ( even parents of former students).

I realise we are all busy with the day to day pressures of work and family life, but please remember  how important it is to get involved in your child’s school.

Thank you to all those who have given me positive feedback since I have been relieving in the Principal’s role. I do have to admit though, that we have terrific staff members at South who are taking on extra duties (big and small) just to help out, so it has certainly been a team effort so far.

I would personally like to thank Cath Reynolds for the amazing job she did organising the fete. There is a great deal of organisation done behind the scenes that we simply don’t see. Thank you Cath.

Have a happy week,

Nicki Walsh

Early Arrivals

There have been several instances recently where students are arriving at school far too early.

We expect students to be arriving at school between 8.30 and 8.45am. This allows them sufficient time to store their bags, play if time permits and then be ready for the morning bell. Please remember there is

NO SUPERVISION by staff until the 8.30am bell.

Jackson’s Triumphant Triathlon

Jackson has beaten some of the state’s best young triathletes to come second place at the Forster Mini-Man Triathlon.

There were approximately 24 entrants in the event for 12-16 year olds which was held on Saturday 18th October.

Congratulations!

A DEDICATED STAFF

South school’s staff have continued to show how dedicated they are to the school and its students. Staff members give up an enormous amount of personal time to complete classroom tasks. Last week we saw once again how many staff ran stalls at the fete in their own time and this week starts another round of excursions. Please remember that your child’s teacher does not receive ‘overtime’ and that leaving their own homes and families is done out of the dedication our teachers have for the students of South.
